Dr. Rick Fitzgibbons
The spiritual and temporal reality of the marital union, requires surrender and sacrifice. It requires a persevering attitude of heart that constantly calls husband and wife to the gift of self-donation, a profound dying to self that places the will of God and the needs of the other above selfish considerations and desires.
Such a marriage requires heroic virtue in any day and time, but perhaps especially in this our day and time. Our guest says selfishness is the major enemy of marital love, it devours the delicate bond that holds a man and woman together.
